Citation Issued Following Two Car Wreck Sunday
A 20-year old Richfield man was charged with failure to yield right of way Monday following a two car collision early Sunday at First South and Second West in Richfield.
Police Chief Murvin Colby said David Lyman Peterson, driver of one of the vehicles involved, received the citation.
The accident occurred at 1:13 a.m. when Peterson, driving a 1964 Chevrolet 2-door sedan be- longing to his mother, Mrs. Phyllis Peterson, Richfield, struck another car driven by DeVere Winget, 50, Austin.
Mr. Colby said the impact threw both cars out of control, the Peterson car crashing into a utility pole and the Winget vehicle continuing onto the lawn at the Sevier Stake Recreation Center building, narrowly missing the building before coming to rest.
Power company crews replaced the pole Monday morning.
Mr. Colby said Mr. Peterson was driving north on Second West and Mr. Winget was going east on First South.
Both men were taken to Sev- ier Valley Church Hospital for treatment. Mr. Winget received a fractured sternum, multiple facial lacerations and bruises. Mr. Peterson also suffered cuts and bruises.
Both cars were considered total losses.
Assisting in the investigation were officers Neldon Torgerson and Leslie Jensen and Melvin Beckstead of the Utah Highway Patrol.
